I have used many different TIG welders over the years (37+). My first one was a 1962 Lincoln 300/300. It is the size of a large chest type freezer and about as loud as a train, and weighs a half ton.
The ArcCaptain 200 is so small yet very powerful. The adjustments are many, and easy to understand and adjust. I do a lot of stainless steel and aluminum. This machine is just so easy to use. I want a 55 plasma cutter next.

Well I must say this lil machine is quite impressive. I’m not a full time TIG welder and most of my experience is with heavy aluminum casts. I bought this to do some light gauge work and it worked so well. I’m so looking forward to honing my skills in lighter gauge material as I started a new job which that is a majority of the work scope. The adjustability on this machine is wild. Looking to try welding some mild steel and stainless with this machine. The price of this machine makes this a must buy for anyone looking to get into the hobby. Go get yours you won’t regret it.

I love this welder.!! I bought it because it had the most functions, most safety iitems to prevent damage to the welder. The best thing of all is the low price considering the full array of functions. In my option, the Arccaptain TIG200P is undoubtedly the very best Tig welder under $1000 dollars. Oh and with a 5 year warranty!! That’s 3 more years than other welder’s under $1000 dollars.

This machine blew me away. Straight out of the box no adjustments other than voltage and layed down pretty impressive beads on aluminum. Arc stability is outstanding, can dial in whatever you need to with this machine. My opinion this is the best value in acdc tig machines. Tig accessory kit was also included which is a outstanding value. Has everything you would need in cups,collet bodies etc. Pedal actually controls the heat not just a on/off switch. Do yourself a favor and buy this machine.

This is an awesome little AC/DC TIG welder! As a beginner TIG welder myself, I've been really impressed by how easy the welder is to setup and use. ARCCAPTAIN includes basicallly everything you need to get welding right out of the box. The only things you'll need to add are your argon gas bottle, PPE equipment, filler rods, and some additional tungsten electrodes. The included torch consumables for the WP-26 torch are fine for getting started but I'd definitely recommend getting a stubby collet/gas lens kit to make the overall torch more compact and give yourself a few larger cup sizes for increased shielding gas coverage. ARCCAPTAIN even offers such a kit. I really like the on-demand cooling fan of this welder. It's much nicer than listening to the fan endless spin away even when the welder isn't being used.

The TIG200P ACDC offers a lot of user controls without being too overwhelming for a beginner like myself. It probably doesn't have as many advanced arc control features as a much more expensive unit, but that is probably actually better for someone just starting out. You still get full control of all standard TIG parameters (pre/post flow time, starting/ending current, ramp up/down time), plus pulse functionality, and the option of doing AC welding with square or triangular wave (AC balance and frequency adjustable). These settings alone will be enough to keep me busy for a long time as I learn the art of TIG welding.

ARCCAPTAIN offers a separate foot pedal controller for the unit and I suggest picking it up if you want to have pedal control of the amperage. The pedal/torch trigger interface connector on the welder is a XS12 series aviation connetor which I have not seen used before on any other welding brand so finding an alternative pedal that would be compatible with the ARCCAPTAIN would be difficult unless you're up for modifying the connetor on the cable yourself. The ARCCAPTAIN pedal is a bit large and bulky but it gets the job done fine.

Because I'm just learning how to TIG weld and can't provide a fair assesssment of the units performance yet, I took it into my work where we manufacture fluid control equipment for semiconductor fab tools. One of our professional welders tested the TIG200P for some stainless steel DC welding and was really impressed by the performance of this welder. For the price point, he agreed this is definitely the best budget friendly welder he's ever used and would be great for a beginner like myself or a hobbyist that can't justify spending 2-4X as much money for a unit from the big Blue or big Red brands. I'm really looking forward to continuing to hone my TIG welding skills with this unit and start using it for my automotive restoration and other hobby projects.

This machine works great! Came with everything I needed to get started short of some filler rod. Bought some tungstens, boss gave me his old small argon bottle, and the foot pedal… and I was in business!

I’m a barebones beginner and this machine is very intuitive and easy to use once you understand what the settings all do and what they are.

The pedal is a must have in my opinion. You gain a level of control you simply can’t compensate for without an immense amount of experience with tig welding.

My welds here are trash I know, but I did manage to get some halfway decent beads going with good penetration in .060” 5052 aluminum plate using 1/16” 4043 filler rod. I definitely dipped my tungsten many times, burned the rubber off my gloves onto the plates, and burnt through the plates.. but I was still surprised at what I could do. Especially after everyone telling me how absolutely impossible TIG welding was.

It has pulse which I played with, made it easier to maintain a cadence to place filler, which resulted in a more uniform weld when I did use it. It arcs up and welds great as long as you don’t accidentally dip the tungsten. If you suddenly see green or your arc jumping around.. just put in another tungsten. Trust me, the weld DOES NOT even out.

I haven’t done any steel or stainless or any exotic metals yet, but I’m pleasantly surprised even as a beginner I was able to put down lap joint beads with a $650 machine.

I have a long way to go, but this welder is absolutely worth it. I can already see myself being able to grow as much as I will ever need with this one machine.

PS: I’m sorry for my horrible welds and especially that fillet weld. If you don’t tell anyone, neither will I.

Welder has good points and bad points.
Good, IGBT, AC freq control, great welds when their WP26 torch is perfect.
BAD, WP26 collets supplied are two piece. Put some heat in the torch and they fall apart. BAD, GCA32 gas connection leaked, contaminates the Argon. BAD, Brass nipple to attach the hose is so short, the dog ear clamp shown is wider. BAD, welding Alum at just 125A, the torch handle is poorly insulated and the handle gets too hot to handle. Had to wrap with a arm guard sleeve for continuous welding, bulky, poor welding comfort. Otherwise you weld, stop, cool, weld, stop, cool. Pain.
All this is fixable with someone else's better quality components.

This is the 4th tig welder I've owned, my 1st was a Vevor DC only, then a major leap to a Weldpro tig 200 AC/DC which was a bit complicated accessing all the parameters, my 3rd unit was a Vulcan Protig 205 which was excellent but too bulky for my limited space. Finally I purchased the Arccaptain tig 200 AC/DC which has all the functions you'll ever need in a compact portable size at an affordable price and it does the job.

Got a lot more for my money than I anticipated! Great machine!

And the machine when you’re going through settings, it needs a different mode so it doesn’t time out so quickly

 **Update 5/24/23, have around 30 hours of use on the machine testing and welding parts, at least ran though a couple 300 cylinders of argon also, made a short video of it welding. Have used the #26 torch it comes with and also a #17, and a #20 water cooled. It's been stress tested and held up very well, have yet to hit the duty cycle. As with any AC machine welding aluminum the air-cooled torches fall short of being able to handle lots of heavy welding due to them heating up fast, once its water cooled can weld all day. The high frequency start is spot on, no issues whatsoever, the spot feature is handy for both AC and DC. The triangle waveform is smooth, kind of hums along like a transformer machine and smooth, great for thinner material. Square wave between 20 and 25% cleaning at 60hz puts out the most power and is best for 1/4 inch. Thinner material like 1/8 you can kick up the frequency and tackle corners and more intricate welds. As mentioned in my previous post it's an easy welder to set up and use, and love the fan on demand, it has pulse and lots of adjustment for all settings. Comparing it to other major brand tig welders I have this one is on par, what sets it apart is its small and easy to move around that is what I bought it for. The machine on 120V is great for DC and stick, about the most you will get on AC is 1/8 material, I ran it mostly on 240V. Inside the welder it looks well made, if it has not failed on the abuse I have put it through so far then I think it's going to hold up. I have welded fittings, turbo pipes, stainless headers, intake, etc. For the price point it's a great value with money to spare if you want a cooler and torch for more production work.

Got it hooked it up and ran a few test passes on some 1/4 6061 aluminum. Very surprised at the power this unit has. Meter shows 204 amps maxed out, I ran this maxed out to make these welds. Very easy to set this machine set up. These welds were at 60hz and 28% on the balance, square wave, 1.5 second pre/10 second post, 1/8 tungston using gas lens. Package comes with 26 series torch and a flow meter, basically everything you need except a cylinder of argon. I would say it's one of the easiest AC machines to set up to start welding if you have some basic knowledge.

Has lots of functions I have not tested yet, its got some weight to it as you would expect with a better quality machine but still easy to move around. HF start works very well, torch seems good and handles the heat for air cooled unit. True fan on demand system that I like very much.

I purchased this welder to embark on my TIG welding learning journey and it has proven to be impressive, perhaps even overwhelmingly so. With an extensive array of settings, it might be a bit daunting for newcomers like me compared to my previous MIG setup. However, seasoned TIG welders will likely appreciate these options. I've successfully welded both aluminum and steel with this machine, and overall, I'm quite pleased with its performance and affordability.

So far it is performing as well as the millers I’ve used and the plasma cutter is everything I hoped for

So far this TIG welder works perfectly especially for the price. Nice smooth arc and controls. Love the pulse mode.

so far i love this welder. I have owned it for about 6 mo now. I wanted to wait until i had a chance to use it. I really don't have any complaints. the torch it comes with and ground clamp, regulator, etc are all high quality. the display is crystal clear! the arc is very stable and lights up ezsy. welding aluminum is a dream too! I highly recommend.

I did purchase a foot pedal that I could not get to work. I contacted arccaptain to get a replacement but kinda got the runaround. I ended up letting it go. I don't really need the foot pedal anyway. I do wish they would have worked with me on it though so I guess that is my ownly complaint.
